Mary wrapped the 1st CHRISTmas Present

Mary wrapped the first CHRISTmas present

Everyone would agree that mother’s give the best present because she gives it with love and a mother’s love is so precious. With CHRISTmas just around the corner treat yourself by reading the story of Jesus’ birth. Have you ever really stopped as a woman and thought what you would do if you encountered an angel and was presented with such a request. But, Mary didn’t waste any time, she answered, “Behold thy handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word.” Now, that’s a mother’s love for her son. She understood the consequences of her answer would be death but, she believed and trusted God. (That could be a whole other topic – trusting God’s word over circumstances.)

When Jesus was born, Mary wrapped Him in swaddling clothes. In reaching Jewish custom swaddling clothes were bandages that were wrapped around a new born child. The rank of the child was indicated by the splendor and costliness of these bands. Some used fine shawls or scarfs and the less fortunate used common cloth. I believe the swaddling clothes were colorful because everything about God is colorful. Could it be that’s why we use colorful wrapping paper at CHRISTmas?

So you see, Mary wrapped the first and best CHIRSTmas present. Merry CHRISTmas.

Listen to the Story-So you can tell the Story

A man wanted to tell people about the Gospel. He came up with an idea. He made a sign and went into a local coffee shop. He bought coffee then went over to a booth and set out his sign that read, “Listen to my story.” He sat and waited and waited but no one came over and sat down. After a while being discouraged he went home. He asked God, “Why didn’t anyone sit down. I had a lot to say about you.” After several minutes, he finally felt the Lord say, “Go back and just listen.” The man did just that. He went back to the coffee shop eased into the booth and sat out another sign that read, “Tell me your story.” Immediately, one by one people came over and sat down telling him their story of the circumstances they were going through.

There’s a hurting world out there that’s looking for hope and with one act of kindness by just listening, we can give them hope through the word of God. The bible is full of story’s that fit pretty much every situation that we go through. It just takes a little reading. What better way to share God’s word than through a story.
We can learn from the best author – Jesus. The Author and finisher of our faith.  Jesus spoke in parables. He told stories.

A Parable is a short allegorical story designed to illustrate or teach some truth, religious principle, or moral lesson.
People marveled at Jesus teachings. They hung on every word.

Listen to the story, so in turn you can tell the story of the One who has the answers –JESUS.
